The back of the bowl with a shaped reserve on which is enameled a stylized version of the Great Seal of the United States as designed by Seraphim Masi, in this case with an all-black eagle holding only three arrows and with wings down, and holding a ribbon in its mouth on which is written in Latin letters "E Pluribus Unum," with tapered square handle and crown finial decorated with enameled foliate ornament against a stippled gilt ground, struck with Cyrillic workmaster's initials A.P.
