Christ, standing before His throne before a heavenly host, reaches His hands out to the Mother of God, who stands at right with a palm in her hand, the front inscribed in Russian, "The All Highest Law Giver observes the very Commandment which He Himself set down, namely that children shall respect their parents, wherefore He respected His immaculate Mother as Himself." The front panel also inscribed at lower left, "Painted in the Icon Painting Workshop. Painted by Feognost Puretskii"
the reverse with a Slavonic style inscription in Cyrillic, "For His Imperial Highness, the Heir, Grand Duke Aleksei Nicholaevich in commemoration of the dedication of the Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God into Heaven, the Blessed Convent of Gethsemane, September 1913, city of Zaraisk.
