Signed P. Troubetzkoy, Moscou, with illegible date, possibly 1926. Bronze, dark patina tending to black. This bronze of an izvostchik, or coachman, is a late cast of a genre scene of 1898 depicting a Moscow horse-drawn sled and its driver waiting in the snow. One cast of this subject is preserved in the collection of the Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow, see, Catalogue of Sculpture in the Tretiakov Gallery, Moscow, 1977, p.591.
