The interior of the oval bowl painted with a brown Imperial eagle on a cream ground within shaded scrolling foliage on a green ground, the exterior with a leaf scroll border above an engraved French inscription 'Keep as a sign of deep sympathy from your most respectful A. Bernhardt', the underside of the cartouche-form handle engraved in Russian 'Moscow 5/18 September 1905', struck with workmaster's initials, 84 standard, scratched inventory number 19756, in original wood boxlength 9cm, 3 1/2 in.
