St. Petersburg, Period of Nicholas I (1825-55), of сатрапа shape, each painted with a battle scene after Philips Wouwermans (1619-1668), signed N. Kornilov and dated 1838, the back of each gilded with scrolling foliage, the ormolu collars chased with flowerheads, the lower parts of the bodies decorated with scrolls and leaves in high relief, the gilded domed bases with a matted band between polished borders, on square ormolu bases, the reeded scrolling handles rising from foliage, blue cypher marks, one further painted "C.2.4." A palace vase, painted with the Battle of Poltava and signed, N. Kornilov, dated 1836, is reproduced by Baron von Wolf, Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, 1744-1904, St. Petersburg, 1906, plate VIII; also a plaque signed by the same artist and dated 1838 is reproduced, p. 183.
