A PAIR OF ROYAL DOORS

Add to collection

Depicting Archangels Michael and Gabriel vested in Imperial regalia and holding banners inscribed Agios, the apex carved with undulating foliage, probably Asia Minor, circa 1700. The physiognomy of the angels in particular the distinctive form of the nose may be seen in a group of icons from Cyprus and the region of Silifke on the southern Anardian coast.
