A GOLD IMPERIAL PRESENTATION CIGARETTE-CASE

St. Petersburg, 1908-1917. The cover with Imperial eagle chased in relief, with central armorial shield of Moscow, within a lozenge cartouche, the spandrels with chased laurel sprays, on matted ground, the push-piece set with a cabochon sapphire, in original fitted red leather presentation case with stamped gilt double-headed eagle. Purchased by the present owner from the Estate of the Duke of Schleswig-Holstein and presented to the Duke by Nicholas II. Sold together with two printed scrolls in the Pan-Slavic style, announcing the 1896 Coronation and a printed menu from the banquet. For a very similar jewelled cigarette case cf.
