St. Petersburg, circa 1871, maker's mark Cyrillic A Ya S, possibly retailed by Moscow firm. The silver octagonal table on four tapering feet, draped with a simulated embroidered cloth under a shaped and painted silver bread loaf with hinged cover, in turn applied with a miniature throne salt-chair with openwork crenuated back and hinged cover. Sold together with a letter from Hammer Galleries.
