Moscow, 1883, rectangular with two hinged panels decorated with multi-colored flowers and scrolling foliage, the interior painted with St. George Slaying the Dragon flanked by Ss. Nicholas and Modest, the borders enameled with multi-colored flowers and foliage on a blue ground, the reverse finely chased with a prayer in Cyrillic, the sides inscribed in Cyrillic, "A Gift to Dmitri Novikov from His Colleagues and Friends; He Who Lives and Acts According to His Conscience Will Be Thanked." Contained in original wood case mounted with silver borders, with monogram below a coronet and with crossed pennants enameled blue and translucent red.
