Lot details

With wavy gilt rims, the white ground gilt and decorated in red, blue and green, the borders with the Imperial arms between panels of iron-red strapwork alternately embellished with gilt scrolls, the centre with a rosette encompassed by an irregular border composed of foliate and lozenge devices with red and gilt reserves between, each marked with the cypher of Nicholas. These plates are of very similar design to a service, also by Solntsev, made at the Imperial Porcelain Factory for the Grand Duke Constantine Nicholaevich in 1848.
