A FRESHWATER PEARL AND DIAMOND BROOCH

St. Petersburg, 1898-1908, workmaster’s unrecorded initials WL. Designed as a leaf with the elongated pearls emanating from six brilliant-cut diamonds terminating in rose-cut diamonds, in original fitted blue velvet case stamped F. Butz, with Imperial warrant, St. Petersburg. In 1883 F. Butz was already one of the leading jewellers and suppliers to the Imperial court and was later in competition with Faberge.
