A TRIPTYCH WITH FIVE IMAGES OF THE MOTHER OF GOD

RUSSIAN, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

The central part shows an icon of the Chernikovskaya Mother of God and above, in the ogee-shaped top, angels carry the Mandylion. Two images of the Mother and Child are portrayed on each wing. The sun appears at the top of the left wing, whereas the moon is painted opposite. The images are delicately painted, the maphorion of the Virgin in the central image is opulently painted, and the background is gold.
