Shown half-length, the Mother of God supporting Christ and pointing to him with her right hand, him blessing and holding a scroll, Mother and Child looking away from the viewer and to opposite directions, despite the icon's traditional iconography the elongated, earthen-coloured features and graceful limbs assign a mannerist style to the image, the latter further accentuated by the unusual red lining of the maphorion, complimented by the green kekryphalos, the haloes circumscribed in red, against a taupe background, with a raised green border
