Alexei Petrovich Bogoliubov
Oil on canvas. Bogoliubov completed his studies at the Naval Cadet Corpus in 1841. From 1850 he attended the Academy under the tuition of Villevalde and Vorobyov. In 1858 he qualified as an academician for his views of Constantinople, Rome and Lake Geneva. After 1873 he worked abroad, and many Russian painters studied under him in his Paris studio. A significant part of his work is devoted to the history of the Russian navy. The Tretyakov gallery holds in its collection his painting The Mouth of the Neva, which was painted in 1872.
