TWO NIELLO AND SILVER -GILT ÉTUIS , A SCENT BOTTLE AND A HORN MOUNT THE ÉTUIS , RUSSIA, LATE 18TH CENTURY, THE SCENT BOTTLE, MARK OF AFANASII AND STEPAN POPOV, VELIKII USTIUG, CIRCA 1760, THE HORN MOUNT, GEORGIA, LATE 19TH CENTURY The étuis , one nielloed with architectural views on gilt stippled ground, the other nielloed with ribbon garlands on gilt chevron ground, both with indistinct maker’s marks, one also with import marks , the scent bottle, nielloed with pastoral figures within rocaille borders, the sides nielloed with floral garlands on gilt stippled ground, the cover on a chain, marked under base , the horn mount shaped as a mythological animal’s head, nielloed with geometric and scrolling foliate motifs on gilt stippled ground, the eyes set with turquoise, apparently unmarked 7 ¼ in. (18.5 cm.) long, and smaller 6.1 oz. (190 gr.) gross
