A porcelain plate from a military service, Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St Petersburg, period of Nicholas I (1825-1855), 1830 the burnished gilt border ciselé with military trophies and double-headed Imperial Eagles, the cavetto finely painted with soldiers one of whom is carrying an Imperial banner, inscribed on the reverse Tambour-Major, Tambour et Porte enseigne du bat- des Sappeurs de la Garde, with underglaze blue imperial cypher of Nicholas I, signed V. Elashevsky diameter 24cm, 9½in.
