A large silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel icon of St Nicholas and St Alexandra, maker Cyrillic IV, Moscow, 1895 the figures depicted in full length, their repoussé robes applied, the applied halos decorated with foliate scrolls, geometric motifs and beading in polychrome cloisonné enamel, St Nicholas holding the New Testament, St Alexandra holding a sword, the background engraved with recurring geometric patterns mimicking a wall and floor, the raised border with geometric pattern, the saints names engraved on the lower edge of the border, a velvet reverse struck with makers initials, 84 standard 53.5 by 44.5cm, 21 by 17½in.
