Rectangular, enameled with colorful flowering plants on grounds of sea green, cream and aubergine, the hinged cover finely enameled en plein with Napoleon Bonaparte witnessing the burning of Moscow, after Vasili Veret-schagin, depicting Napoleon and his military staff by the walls of the Moscow Kremlin which is in flames, with geometric borders, maker's mark rubbed, almost certainly by the Twentieth Artel. The Burning of the Kremlin was executed by Veret-schagin in 1893 and formed part of a series of paintings on the War against Napoleon.
