An Armenian Icon of Ss. Sargis and Martirios

Depicting St. Sargis and his son Martirios on horseback, the hand of God emerges from heaven above in blessing, the border painted with flowering foliage on a green ground, inscribed in Armenian, 'In the Armenian Year 1272,' (i.e. 1823 A.D.), the bottom of the panel with an inscription in Armenian indicating that the painting was executed for the Church of St. Thomas in Northern Iran by the father of the donor, Salmast Melik Step'an of Hafduvan,painted on canvas.
