The backs of the fig-shaped bowls nielloed with portraits of the Romanovs, Michael (1613-1645), Alexei (1645-1676), Feodor (1676-1682), Peter the Great (1682-1725), Catherine I (1725-1727), Peter II (1727-1730), Anna (1730-1740), Ivan (1740-1741), Elizabeth (1741-1761), Peter HI (1761-1762), Catherine II (1762-1796), and Paul (1796-1801), the finials in the forms of Imperial crowns, each stem numbered with Roman numerals and bearing the cypher of Alexander I, the interior of the bowls gilded. Contained in a fitted case.
