The two-stage barrels of stub-twist 'Damascus' steel, etched, polished and displaying spiral bands with wavy patterns; the breech octagonal, with gilded moldings and a rococo ornamental ecusson chiselled in relief and gilded; the Tula official proofmark, the letter P, on the underside of the breeches; the lock and steel mounts decorated with shellwork, flowers and various rococo motifs, chiselled, gilded and gold-encrusted against a blued background (bluing renewed); the stocks of dark walnut carved with shellwork and roses and profusely decorated with silver-inlaid scrolls.
