Rectangular, the cover applied with a plaque in relief depicting the Moscow Kremlin, mounted on an applied oak tree, the branches decorated with the crests of all the Russian provinces, the base of the trunk inset with an oval portrait of Alexander II above his cypher, surrounded by cannon balls, flags and military trophies, the reverse of similar decoration, the central plaque depicting a coronation scene in the Uspensky Cathedral above six oval porcelain plaques of saints, the portfolio opening to reveal a photographic reproduction of a portrait of Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna.
