The panel inscribed in the lower border, "painted in the Icon painting shop by Feognost Puretski', also with the inscription in Cyrillic, "The All Highest Law Giver observes the very Commandment which He Himself set down, namely that children shall respect their parents, wherefore He respected His immaculate mother as himself, the reverse of the panel inscribed in Cyrillic, "For His Imperial Highness, Grand Duke Aleksei Nikolaevich in commemoration of the Ascession of the Virgin into heaven, with blessings from the Convent of Gethse-mane, Zaraisk, from the devoted subjects, Mother Superior Poliksenia and the Sisters'.
