A Rare Russian Porcelain Vase
Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg, period of Nicholas I (1825-55)
From the service of Grand Duke Constan-tine Nicholaevich gilded with strapwork on red panels, one side with the Imperial eagle in black, the other side with the Imperial monogram of Constantine Nicholae-vich, blue cypher mark. This service was produced in 1848 for Constantine (1827-92), third son of Nicholas I. It was designed by F.G. Solnstev, author of the monumental work, Antiquities of the Russian Empire.
