The body repousse and chased with foliate arabesques, flowers and fabulous winged beasts, the prow and stern applied with shields engraved with the officers' names including Tsarevich Nicholas and Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, surrounded by military trophies, the handle with the enamelled coat of arms of the Bellegarde family and supported by a dragon's head terminating in scrolling leaves, the border with a maxim: 'To Feasting Friends, be Fun and Happiness and Beauty', the centre inscribed: 'To Nicholas Valerianovich Bellegarde, from his Comrade Preobrazhensky Guards'
