IMPORTANT RUSSIAN SILVER-GILT AND ENAMEL LARGE PRESENTATION PUNCH SET

Comprising Tray, Punch Bowl, eight Charki and a Kovsh for ladling, chased in the Old Russian style with entwined foliage and enameled with multi-colored flowering stylized foliage on a cream ground, set with colorful "jewels," the tray and bowl enameled with a presentation inscription, "To Her Imperial Highness, Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna from the town of Kazan, Ilth January, 1873,'' the tray enameled twice with the Russian Imperial Eagle and twice with the armorials of the town of Kazan, the charki and and kovsh enameled with various drinking inscriptions such as, "If there is wine we drink and if not then we expect it," and, "Drink to the bottom where you will find what is good," 91 standard. A wedding gift from the town of Kazan to H.I.H. Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna, daughter of Alexander II, on the occasion of her marriage to Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, son of Queen Victoria, January, 1873.
