The centre with the entwined cyphers A and M with flowers enriched with gilding beneath a crown, the blue borders moulded with ribbon tied floral sprays, similarly gilt diameter 24.1cm., 9'Ain. The cyphers are those of the Grand Duke, Heir and Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaievich (later Alexander II) and his young wife Maria Alexandrovna of Hess Darmstadt. The plate was made for the couple's private residence at Peterhof on the Gulf of Finland, known as the 'Farm'
