A Pair of Russian Silver and Enamel Cufflinks
Designed by Alexander Rodchenko, Cyrillic Maker's Mark P.V., St. Petersburg, circa 1923
Each oval decorated with an aeroplane, the wings inscribed with the Cyrillic initials D.L., with sky blue translucent enamel background.
The design for these cufflinks was for the State Merchant Air Service, known as 'Dobrolet' (good flight). See Leah Dickerman, Building the Collective, Soviet Graphic Design 1917-1937, Princeton Architectural Press, 1996, p. 94 for a similarly designed poster. See also S.O.
